Change nurtures
\nThe shades and folds of kindly harmonies
\nWhere a full tapestry makes port,
\nWoven from the quiet rituals of shared days.<\/p>\n
But time, being the master of all change,
\nIn every living thing,
\nIn its own time
\nWrenches a baleful sound,
\nIntrudes on innocence,
\nDarkening what comes after.<\/p>\n
Scoured of every comfort,
\nThe empty lands of the heart
\nFlinch.
\nLife\u2019s passing has declared an untimely triumph
\nOver nature\u2019s season-end.<\/p>\n
Reflection sets in \u2013 a bitter servant \u2013
\nTormenting the dulling beat of all lament.
\nThe shriven soul hesitates,
\nBarely releasing its grip
\nOn the cold whisper of the sobbing, heaving scythe.<\/p>\n
Heavy harvest drips melancholy
\nInto the restless, grieving soil
\nWhere a seed lingers,
\nCradling the memory of precious moments,
\nWeaving the promise of new harmonies
\nThrough the waiting lands of a still open heart.<\/p>\n
