At night when all the house is still,
\nI sometimes take my favourite briar,
\nAnd one last pipe ere bedtime fill,
\nThen fall to dreaming by the fire.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The cosy room, the easy-chair
\nAre left a hundred leagues behind,
\nI’m with the old battalion where
\nThe cobbled roads of Flanders wind.<\/h4>\n

And once again the heavy pack,
\nAnd once again the miles of mud,
\nThe old precarious duck-board track,
\nThe cold o’nights that chilled the blood.
