I am pleased to publish an extensive review by Vin Harris of Mindful Heroes-stories of journeys that changed lives<\/a>. <\/em>Vin states:\u00a0 The book<\/em> … makes the connection between the Hero\u2019s Journey and the inner journeys of people who study and practice mindfulness.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

I’ve no wish to supercede Vin’s evaluation in my praise for this book, but rather let the readers enjoy an appreciation of his account of this unique edition.\u00a0 The four stages of the hero’s journey are:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. DEPARTURE<\/strong>: leaving the normal world and entering strange new territory.<\/em><\/li>\n
  2. DESCENT<\/strong>: encountering obstacles and receiving help.<\/em><\/li>\n
  3. INITIATION<\/strong>: facing challenges and finding freedom.<\/em><\/li>\n
  4. RETURN<\/strong>: coming home and being able to help others
    \n<\/em>(cf     A Conversation with David Brazier<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>published in\u00a0Many Roads\u00a0<\/em>in 2014.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Also included in this month’s Many Roads\u00a0<\/em>is a short contemplative film by Sitar Rose<\/a>, No Lockdown on the River Garry<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>Sitar is an accomplished documentary fimmaker with a wide range of titles.\u00a0 She says of herself:\u00a0 I specialise in health education work and the arts and frequently work with sensitive and difficult issues.<\/em><\/p>\n

    Lastly, there is a series of photographs<\/a> taken in and around Edinburgh from the u3a group.<\/p>\n
