\"\"Welcome to the first issue of\u00a0Many Roads<\/em>, the Bodhicharya \u2018blogazine\u2019!<\/p>\n

In this first bumper\u00a0issue in \u2018articles\u2019 \u00a0we start off\u00a0with Jet Mort\u2019s interview with Ringu Tulku Rinpoche at the recent Bodhicharya summer camp. With many thanks to Jet and of course RTR for giving his time so generously. \u00a0Following on, we have Annie Dibble’s beautiful and\u00a0life affirming\u00a0piece about the Dalai Lama’s visit to Northern Ireland in 2007.\u00a0 Margaret Richardson then\u00a0shares her enchanting story about how she came to\u00a0help ‘Lucky’ in Nepal.\u00a0 Marita Faaberg\u00a0also shares with us her thoughts on modern spirituality in Dreaming Our World.\u00a0 Then, the very wonderful and inspiring story of a spiritual journey over many decades and Denise\u00a0N\u00e9lis\u00a0explains ‘Why Buddhism’ and exactly\u00a0why she became a\u00a0Buddhist officially at the age of 82!\u00a0 Most of you won’t be surprised to know that meeting up with a certain RTR had a lot to do with that.<\/p>\n

But we haven’t finished yet, oh no, still lots more! We then have Vicki McKenna who tells us just why mindfulness and contentment have become her practice. \u00a0Then the first of our regular contributions from Laurent Nottale who starts off by explaining why he is attracted to Buddhism as a scientist. \u00a0The following \u00a0Happiness article came about when, as the editor of this first issue, I took the opportunity of exploring my favourite subject, happiness, and I sent a set of questions to a number of Sangha members about their experiences and thoughts on the subject.\u00a0 Their very personal replies are included in full here. Following on,\u00a0Rinchen, who is now a RTR monk and who used to be a Zen monk, tells us just how that came about. \u00a0Then, a very\u00a0brave story of breaking free from Blue Butterfly, who is a young Asian woman who was born and brought up in the UK and how she has found inner freedom.<\/p>\n

In ‘Reviews’ we have Cesare Saguato\u2019s reflections on Rinpoche\u2019s teachings in London this Spring and Annie Dibble’s thoughts on \u00a0Pico Iyer\u2019s 2008 book \u2018 The Global Journey of the 14th<\/sup> Dalai Lama. \u00a0We finish off in our Arts section with some\u00a0 amazing photos and art from our US cousins (with thanks to Jackie Roemer in Oklahoma for sending these to us). \u00a0And finally some poetry; \u00a0just because I like poetry.<\/p>\n
