A SUMMARY
by Maggy Jones
Mahamudra is the highest level of truth and the highest level of tantra. The yanas are the complete path if you study one after the other. The Ngöndro practices are the preparation but sometimes create an obstacle for western people who cannot feel the connection. It is important to become familiar with them and use them. The main purpose of practice is to transform ourselves. People are under the influence of negative emotions; getting angry helps nothing. We must understand that it is samsara; try to feel compassion towards those who are hurting you. Ngöndro will help with this. Without the understanding, or the experience of Mahamudra would we grasp the notion of enlightenment? Or realise our true nature – that there is no “I”. When we realise this then we are free and the whole practice becomes relevant.
Mindfulness – being aware of what you are doing when you are doing it – is a key practice and can transform your whole day into a meditation. Teachings, practice are useless on their own – it all depends on how we use them in our daily life. Q & A
