A SUMMARY
by Maggy Jones
I am to talk about Mind Training, focussing on ultimate Bodhicitta. We must watch our actions of body, speech and mind and judge what is harmful or beneficial. 2nd we must develop wisdom. How do we train, and judge ourselves? Our only tool is our own mind – our understanding and being aware of what is going on, “I should do it this way not that way!” I am not perfect – I am a samsaric being and in the habit of doing things one way. It is not easy to change. Question to student – “What is the most important message of Buddhism?” “Do it yourself!”
Further explanation of the kleshas with an emphasis on ignorance which causes all. As we develop some wisdom the kleshas shrink in strength. Generating compassion is the task of a Bodhisattva – relative Bodhicitta. How much progress we have made is measured by the development of our compassion. With compassion, others feel better and so do you, now you are free from anger. So why not? Then we must go beyond concepts and see how things truly are. Q & A
* Kleshas: Anger, pride, jealousy, desire/attachment (one), ignorance.
