In this video, Ringu Tulku Rinpoche discusses the four great rivers of human suffering: birth, old age, sickness, and death. These are stages of life that every person must go through, and they bring pain and difficulties to varying degrees.
Birth, for example, is painful for both the mother and the child, and sickness and death are universal experiences. It is important to understand and reflect upon these stages of life, rather than thinking “why me?” when they happen.
Rinpoche emphasizes that everyone goes through these stages, and it is important to learn how to deal with them to minimize suffering.
