The whole practice of a bodhisattva is outlined in the Six Paramitas. The Six Paramitas are:
1. Giving
2. Right Conduct
3. Patience
4. Diligence
5. Meditation
6. Wisdom
A Summary
by Maggy Jones
This is the most important as the other 5 cannot become “paramitas” unless they are combined with wisdom.
“Knowledge” is an intellectual understanding; “Wisdom” is an experiential understanding. A “wise” person is not necessarily a scholar but someone who knows the right thing to do. Wisdom knows things the way they truly are, the ultimate nature of things; it is a deep self-knowledge, self-awareness; you have an inner independence, self-reliance.
The true dharma practice is contained within these six; practise them all day, every day.
