Rinpoche was teaching from the short text of Patrul Rinpoche, Victory over the Maras.
Generally are 4 main types of Maras or obstacles: 1) Mara of Kleshas (negative emotions), 2) Mara of Aggregates (self-clinging), 3) Mara of the Lord of Death (impermanence), 4) Mara of Devas (complacency), and their subsections and inner, outer and secret categories. The true freedom is to become free from these.
