Ringu Tulku Rinpoche explains in this video (BA14/BA1_20) the 20th stanza of the first chapter of the Bodhicharyavatara. This stanza refers to another text – the sutra requested by Subahu – where the Buddha taught the 4 limitless aspects of bodhichitta. Those aspects are the reason why the merit of generating active bodhichitta in one’s mind is also limitless.
