BA6Q3 Questions and Answers 3 (Chapter 6)

Bodhicharya_channel

With video BA6Q3 Ringu Tulku kindly answers some more questions submitted concerning the first few verses of the Sixth Chapter of the Bodhicharyavatara and some earlier stanzas as well.

Regarding the question in this video concerning The Sutra of the Essence of the Sky, we found the following information which might offer some help. In Sanskrit it is called Akashagarbha Sutra and in Tibetan nam mkha’i snyingpo’i mdo. The Tibetan text can be seen here in this link. We could not find an English translation, but there seems to be a book in German. The two texts written both by Shantideva and by Nagarjuna are Digest of All Disciplines (Sanskrit: Shiksasamuccaya), and Digest of All Sutras (Sanskrit: Sutrasamuccaya).  The first one has been translated to English in 1922 by Cecil Bendall and W.H.D. Rouse and can be read online  through this link.

Dear Rinpoche, I have a question about stanza 52. It’s about the fact that the mind can’t be harmed. I feel I need more explanations about that. I understand that our Buddha nature can’t be harmed, but the mind, as I experiment it can be harmed in my experience. Aren’t all the mental illnesses like injuries of the mind ? How can we say that drugs don’t shatter its balance ? I think it could be a problem of definition. Thank you very much Rinpoche.
