In stanza 63 the Samkhyas compare consciousness functioning in different modes like one person can be a father and a son. Madhyamika’s says, no, because you believe in truly existent matter so that can be not the father and son at same time? That is strange (in Steven Bachelor’s translation) Rinpoche explanation is very clear, incredible respect for that. Not easy. Then in stanza 113 object and consciousness are compared to (lack of truly existing) father and son, only relatively independent of one another. But here I tent to say, father is a human being, son is a human being…object and mind…are sort of …one, two or many human beings:). Certainly interdependently existing…therefor not so solid…Luckily Rinpoche explains it very clear. If no father can be found, no son can exist and vice versa… Again one tents to ask: in non-duality…what is finally present then? Tuk je che, marlou
Dear Rinpoche, thank you, before you already answered my, our question on how things, mind and things can function interdependently…and you said: things are more fluid, not so solid. In the question here above, I asked about non-duality, but better (for me) to try to understand more deeply how things and mind exist interdependently. Yes, in an easier way, it is more obvious that when we are generous and or have discipline or have patience, that our heart and mind change…that is also interdependence…this is on the relative level. Can one say interdependence is only there on a relative level? kind regards, marlou
