Further Information:

The course comprises 5 sessions of 1hr 20 each, covering a bit of theory, discussion of questions and fully-guided practice sessions.

Sessions are also recorded and available later the same with day, with unlimited access. The recordings come with descriptions of timings for each so you can do short sessions, as you have time. All the quotes, poems and teachings are gathered together in a PDF for you to refer to. We draw on teachings from the Kum Nye tradition but also Ringu Tulku, HH Karmapa, embodiment teachings and others.

Course Intention:
The practices of Kum Nye provide spacious encouragement and direction that allow us to settle into the world of embodiment, intuition and the clear knowing that can be found there. Opening and deepening into our felt experience can bring stillness and peace and a deeper connection with ourselves, our relationships and our lives. The intention of this course of sessions is to provide space time and practice to do just that.

Full instruction will be provided and sessions are suitable for all body abilities, with no prior experience of Kum Nye required. The emphasis is on gentleness and embodied mindfulness. Meditation is woven into the exercises and deepened between them

What do you think? Shall we explore?

Rinchen, originally from England, moved to the Caribbean when he was 22 years old and lived there in the Leewards during the 70’s and 80’s working on the islands and living the life of a lay Buddhist.

At the end of the 80’s he moved to a Zen Monastery to train as a monk and Dharma teacher and was consequently asked to set up and run a Buddhist centre in Scotland in 1998, later returning to the Caribbean to teach in 2002.

In 2009 he joined the Tibetan Buddhist lineage at a ceremony in Bodhgaya, India, and became one of Ringu Tulku’s monks. He ran Bodhicharya Caribbean, which spans the West Indian islands of Trinidad and Tobago as well as Antigua and Montserrat until very recently.

He now lives n Sheffield, spending most of his life in retreat.

“Actualising our good heart”

We are all motivated by this same thing. We try to be helpful to others once our basic necessities have been met. This is our basic nature. This basic nature can become obscured, but it will always return.

I have learnt, practiced and taught two things for over 50 years now – sailing and meditation.

Only one period of meditation can be enough for someone to sense their own good-heartedness and perhaps even their ability to benefit others.  A joy arises. This is the life that I want!

Many years ago, I took youths who had been through the law courts on sailing trips. Even one trip could open up a whole new world of marvellous possibilities. The unattainable was unexpectedly right there, and they were in the midst of it all. Their birthright was attained – happiness!

So each time we practice we have to remember how we found this for ourselves and then start again – our practice and our lives refreshed.

Many of our sangha may already be more or less free – but not realising this, they continue to strive for something more.  Old habits of wanting more can cause us to sail right past the further shore we have been longing to find – missing it unknowingly in the mist.

We will talk about this during the day and discuss:  how can we change this?

Everyone is welcome.
