Gyalse Ngulchu Thogme Zangpo  (1295–1369)

The 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva

Thirty Seven Practices of the Bodhisattvas is an important lojong text by Gylase Ngulchu Thogme Zangpo. In thirty seven verses, it gives instructions on how to follow the bodhisattva path. Kyabjé Trulshik Rinpoche has said that the Eight Verses of Training the Mind represents the short version of lojong, the Thirty Seven Practices is the medium, and the Bodhicharyavatara is the extensive version

Shri Dharmakirti

Shri Dharmakirti, a disciple of His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama. He studied biochemisty in college, and later worked as an advertising executive and computer programmer. He has spent the best part of the past 20 years in retreat in the Kullu valley and at other secluded places.

Shri Dharmakirti’s last four years in retreat have been at the Bodhicharya Meditation Centre in Sikkim, India, made possible by the hospitality and generosity of Ringu Tulku Rinpoche. Ringu Tulku Rinpoche has known Shri Dharmakirti since he was a young boy, as Rinpoche and Dharmakirti’s father were colleagues and friends. Ringu Tulku Rinpoche has been a supportive and influential figure in Shri Dharmakirti’s spiritual life.

“For me, an Indian, this has been a magical treasure hunt to reclaim the most precious spiritual treasure of Mother India, from the Great Treasure House of Dharma called the Dalai Lama of Tibet.”

– Shri Dharmakirti
