We are delighted that Tsering will guide a weekend, non-residential, retreat at the BCUK Centre. The retreat is open to all, beginners and experienced practitioners alike are most welcome.
Over these two days, Tsering will skilfully guide us through exploring how we can cultivate and maintain a steady heart in a world that increasingly appears unsteady, unstable and uncertain. As practitioners we need to develop the ability to stay open, aware and responsive in difficult times, without becoming too caught up and overwhelmed with what is going on around and inside ourselves. Then we can see clearly and act wisely in our lives, in society and the world at large.
In more Buddhist terms, we will explore how the relative truth and the ultimate truth are consolidated in our practice and daily lives and how we can find the balance between view and action. How can we hold an open, wise and spacious view and prevent our activities and engagement in the world from smothering it, and at the same time how can we make sure our open and spacious view doesn’t turn into a way to avoid engaging with the nuts and bolts of our lives and the world in a genuinely compassionate way.

The group is made up of the participants, so active engagement, questions, reflections and discussion are welcome, however, if you prefer to just sit back, listen, reflect and take it in, then that is perfectly okay too.

Saga Dawa (Wesak) Festival
Saga Dawa (Wesak) Festival
31 May 2026 9:45 am - 1:30 pm
Bodhicharya UK Buddhist Centre, New Rd, Rochester ME1 1DX, UK
Wesak/Vesak is one of the most important festivals common to many Buddhist traditions. It celebrates the Buddha’s birth and for some it also marks his enlightenment and death (Parinirvana). It is seen as a time to reflect on the Buddha’s teachings and what it means to be a Buddhist. However, everyone is welcome to join the celebration, to find out more about Buddhism and enjoy the occasion. At 12:45hrs there is a Vegetarian Lunch to conclude the event.
